Accessing the Business Object in Rule Modeler

This topic describes the various ways of accessing the business object in the rule modeler.

Based on the starting point, there are two ways of accessing business objects in a rule modeler. They are:

  • Accessing the business object using Workspace Documents (Explorer) view
  • Accessing the business object using Workspace Documents (My Recent Documents) view

Creating a rule on an Object Template

Select the required <object template> from the Workspace Documents (Explorer), right-click the template and select Add > Rule. The Rule Modeler appears.
Attention*The *Business Object section is automatically populated with the schema of the <object template>.

In the Workspace Documents (My Recent Documents), place the mouse pointer on the <object template>, click that appears, and select Actions > Add > Rule . The Rule Modeler appears.

Creating a rule on a Schema Fragment


1.Expand the required XML Schema Definition from the Workspace Documents (Explorer).
2.Select the required <schema fragment>, right-click the schema fragment, and select Add > Rule. The Rule Modeler appears, displaying the properties page.
Attention*The *Business Object section is automatically populated with the schema fragment.


1.In the Workspace Documents (My Recent Documents), select the required <XML Schema Definition>. The <XML Schema Definition> window appears, displaying the schema definition properties.
2.Click on the <XML Schema Definition> tool bar to view the fragments of the schema. A pane appears on the right-side of the editor, displaying all the available schema fragments.
3.Select the required <schema fragment>, place the mouse pointer on the <schema fragment>, click that appears, and select Actions > Add > Rule . The Rule Modeler appears.
Attention*The *Business Object section is automatically populated with the schema fragment.

Creating a rule on a Rule Group


1.Select the required <rule group> from the Workspace Documents (Explorer), right-click the <rule group> and select Add > Rule. The Rule Modeler appears.
Note: The Rule Group field in the Property Sheet is automatically populated.

2. Drag the required object template or schema fragment from the <project> tree to the Business Object section. The Business Object section is populated with the schema.

2.To access the object template or the input schema, do the following: Click on the rule modeler tool bar. A Quick Access Menu is displayed. Click Insert on the sidebar. All the related artifacts are displayed on the Quick Access Menu. Drag the required object template or schema fragment from the Quick Access Menu to the Business Object section. The Business Object section is populated with the required schema.

Creating a rule directly


1.From the Workspace Documents (Explorer), right-click the <project> or <folder> where you want to create the rule and select New > Rule. The Rule Modeler appears.

2. Drag the required object template or schema fragment from the <project> tree to the Business Object section. The Business Object section is populated with the schema.


1.In the Workspace Documents (My Recent Documents), click New Process Platform Model. The New Process Platform Model dialog box appears, displaying all the models.
2.Click Rule. The Rule Modeler appears.
3.To access the object template or the input schema, do the following: Click on the rule modeler tool bar. A Quick Access Menu is displayed. Click Insert on the sidebar. All the related artifacts are displayed on the Quick Access Menu. Drag the required object template or schema fragment from the Quick Access Menu to the Business Object section. The Business Object section is populated with the required schema.
